Second suspect charged after burned body found behind Fairfield house

FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) -

Fairfield police have charged another suspect in connection to the death of a Pinson woman.

Megan E. Monroe's burned body was found behind a vacant Fairfield house April 19. The 22-year-old's death is being investigated as a homicide.

Police say they have now charged Nathaniel Anthony Fortune, 31, of Birmingham with abuse of a corpse in the case. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Tuesday, police charged Kenneth Childers, 27, of Birmingham with the same crime.

Chief Leon Davis, Jr. said Tuesday that additional charges could be filed in the case after investigators review the coroner's report.
