I think most of you know that the editorials I do…"From Lou to You" are, like them or not, my opinions. They're not news content. You're welcome, in fact, encouraged, to respond to them, whether you agree or disagree.
This brings me to today's editorial…
Recently, in the media, there was a story about an organization that had expressed its concern about a public official who, they say, has brought his religious faith to his job. Certainly, religious freedom was one of the tenets upon which our country was founded…to believe or not believe whatever we choose. And, history has shown us time and time again how men, consumed by greed and/or fear, have twisted our Creator's intent to cause horrific pain and suffering.
The extremists aside, however, at the heart of all faith there is God who says of the faithful… you will know them by their good deeds. The compassion for and fairness to all…that men of good faith work hard to exemplify…that is evident in the way they live their lives…in the decisions they make whether at home or at work, benefit everyone around them and the organizations of which they are a part.
This man, the subject of the media story, is by every measure, a man of good faith. While he may speak about his faith, his good deeds speak louder. We need more like him in every aspect of our lives.
