TALLADEGA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Talladega County authorities are searching for a 51-year-old woman who hasn't been seen since she told her family she was going to pick up transcripts from a high school on Tuesday.

Friday, authorities searched the area where an off-duty Sylacauga officer located Angela Owings Whitworth's van on Wiregrass Road Thursday night.

Officers and K-9s searched the area but so far they haven't found Whitworth. The van has been impounded.

Authorities say Whitworth, of Sylacauga, left her home in the Fayetteville community around noon on April 8. She was driving a 1999 red Ford Aerostar van with the license plate number NG21691, according to the Talladega County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say Whitworth told her family she was going to BB Comer High School to pick up her grade transcripts. She was in the process of enrolling in a community college, the sheriff's office says.

Whitworth never showed up at the school and hasn't been heard from since she left her home. The last place she was seen was at Ricks General Store in Fayetteville.

Authorities say they don't know of any mental health history that would cause Whitworth to disappear. They do not suspect foul play at this time.

"Family members have told investigators she did have a tendency sometimes to go off or walk or wander through a wooded area to be alone, by herself," Talladega County Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call Sgt. Josh Tubbs at 256-245-5121 or dispatch at 256-249-3811.
