MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) -

Governor Robert Bentley has signed a bill nicknamed "Carly's Law."

The law will allow UAB to conduct a study on the effectiveness of cannabidiol oil, or CBD, to treat seizures. This will allow families access to the oil by participating in the study.

The law is named for Carly Chandler, a Hoover toddler who suffers from a rare disorder that causes multiple seizures a day. Her father, Dustin, has been a vocal advocate for the law.

The law will go into effect June 1, 2014.
