NO TIME TO COOK - Given that it's National Nutrition Month, it's a great time to reflect on eating better and exercising more, but let's face it—finding time to cook a healthy meal with a busy schedule can be quite challenging, and sometimes, quite costly. Nutritionist Alexis Barton joined us with some pointers to stay healthy even with a busy schedule! Her busybody solution #1 is to use a meal delivery service. Meal services like bistroMD are an affordable option for the typical American "busybody" who is overworked, overscheduled, and simply doesn't have enough time to whip up nutritious and delicious meals. Forget about those unappetizing processed meals you find in the grocery store—investing in a meal delivery ensures that your food is prepared fresh by top chefs, and contains the finest and natural ingredients, real vegetables, sustainable protein, and has minimal to no chemicals or fillers. Her busybody solution #2 is to always have portable snacks with you. For the busybody on-the-go, single serve, pre-portioned healthy snacks are an absolute must for staying healthy. Food companies are beginning to revolutionize healthy snacking by creating portable, single serve packets of your favorite nutritious foods. For instance, Carrington Farms has a line of Flax Paks, which makes it possible to add superseeds to a healthy diet in a cinch- no refrigeration necessary. Snacks like these are great for the health conscious, on-the-go consumer, and can be used at restaurants, airports, hotels, any travel situation, and even at home. Available at Walmart for $6.99. Her busybody solution #3 is to create multi-tasking meals. When it comes to cooking dinner for the family at the end of a hectic day, there are some simple gadgets that can help make putting a healthy meal on the table just a little bit easier. One great option is T-fal's Balanced Living Multi-Cooker. Gadgets like this make it possible to prepare dinner hand's free- all while juggling work, chores, and the kids' after-school activities. Talk about multi-tasking! Amazon.com, $59.99. She also showed us how to incorporate protein powder into smoothies, oatmeal and more to give your current snacks and meals a bosot! She recommended Cenergy's Amino Plex which is a low-calorie, high-protein option to keep on hand. Available at www.cenergynutrition.com.
