3rd ID marches in Saint Patrick's Day Parade

One of the highlights every year is the military personnel marching in the parade with a big spot light on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfields 3rd Infantry Division.

This year, it was not only a show of support for many men and women in uniform, but a welcome home for many who spent the last Saint Patrick's Day overseas.

Headed by the 3rd ID Color Guard and the talented 3rd ID band, hundreds of Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield soldiers marched to a happy tune in this year's Saint Patrick's Day Parade.

"It's been great. It's been my first one, and I'm loving it," said Spc. Graham Hutchenson, a clarinet player in the 3rd ID Band. "The weather we don't care, we do what we love and this is our job and we love doing it."

It's a tradition these soldiers look forward to each and every year. More soldiers are back home to enjoy the celebrations.

"This is one of the first times that the majority of the 3rd ID is back here at Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart, so it's an opportunity for us to show our appreciation for a great community that supported us over the last 12 years of war," said BG Peter Jones of the 3rd ID.

It is a day the community not only celebrates green, but shows its support for the men and woman wearing it.
