Shooting will not change Chehaw policy

Albany Police continue to search for a gunman who shot two men at the Chehaw Park Education Center early Sunday morning.

But Chehaw officials say they don't plan to change any policies.

Shontavious Armstrong and Tevin Henry were shot in the leg during an Albany State University student's college party. They said they were in the parking lot when a man asked them for a cigarette then shot them.

Armstrong is hospitalized in good condition. Henry was treated and released.

Chehaw officials say five students rented the Center for the party and extra security was on hand.

"These kids were polite," said Chehaw Executive Director Doug Porter. "They were well mannered. We didn't have any fights. And we were just very impressed with how well they behaved themselves up until the end, with one unfortunate incident."

Someone rammed the park's exit gate leaving, causing more than one thousand dollars in damage.

Park officials say they will continue to rent to all members of the community, and they don't have security concerns.
