The Shed BBQ sauce earns a spot on the White House table

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Vice President Joe Biden has revealed that his favorite barbecue sauce comes from right here in South Mississippi, specifically The Shed. The Shed's owners made a video, inviting the Vice President to South Mississippi to get his sauce fix.

When Brad and Brooke Orrison found out their original barbecue sauce has a spot on the White House table, they were overjoyed.

"What day do you wake up and find out somebody like the Vice President of the United States likes what you produce," said Linda Orrison, who is Marketing Director for The Shed.

Orrison is also the mother of owners, Brad and Brooke, who made a YouTube video inviting Biden himself to "Get Fed at The Shed."

The video shows Brad and Brooke thanking Biden for choosing their sauce, and they give him a tour of the restaurant.

"We just wanted it to be a fun thing, and a non-political thing. A thing like we really appreciate that you like the sauce, and we will have plenty for him when he gets here," said Orrison.

Last year, Mama Orrison says she was at a show selling their sauce when she was approached by the White House executive chef.

"He said, ‘the Vice President loves your sauce, and I have to get it every time we have a barbeque at the White House'," said Orrison.

Politicians aren't the only ones buying the sauce. Heidi Hale and her husband came all the way from Marion, AL to pick up a bottle as a gift for a friend.

"It's good. It's worth the drive. We drove four and a half hours, so it's worth it," said Hale.

She may have had to make a drive, but fortunately the White House executive chef doesn't have to go far.

"We're in 4,000 stores now, so now he just buys it locally which is great that he can actually get it in Washington, D.C. on some grocery store shelf," said Orrison.

Orrison says if they get to show Biden the Mississippi Gulf Coast, they will be really proud.

Good news for Cullman shoppers: several stores damaged in the March hail storm are set to open in the next couple weeks. The parking lot is still pretty empty, but the store signs are fixed, the roofs have been repaired, and instead of 'closed' signs, there are now signs that say 'coming soon.'
