TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Break-insin one local neighborhood have residents on high alert, and they're workingtogether to help put an end to it.

Theresidents say it's all about communication with each other and the police.

Accordingto police, someone broke a window and took electronics from a home onWarrington Monday afternoon. Neighbors say this isn't the first time thieveshave hit their area.

"I'mspreading the word from block to block," said one resident who wanted to remainanonymous. "Even though there's block watch and I Citizen, you have to watchout for each other."

She'sasking her neighbors to keep an eye out at what's going on in the neighborhood, and asking them to talk to each other to learn who should and shouldn't bearound. Toledo Police say that's one of the best things they can do.

"Ifthe community can help us out by giving us some eyes and ears out on thestreet, that makes our job a lot easier," said Toledo Police Sgt. JoeHeffernan.

Butthat's not all the residents are doing.

"There'sa business around me that has video surveillance, and some of my neighbors havevideo surveillance, and we share that," the anonymous resident said.

She'shoping that by keeping everyone on her block aware and alert, they can helppolice catch the suspects in the act.

"Ifwe can catch a burglar, that makes our day," Sgt. Heffernan said. "So if youfeel there's something suspicious going on in your neighborhood, give us acall."

Policesay to trust your instinct. If you see someone on your street and it just doesn'tseem right, call the police.
