Here is what you saw on Good Day Alabama for February 28, 2014:
CLARE LIVE - IHOP will serve free pancakes to benefit Children's of Alabama in celebration of National Pancake Day on Tuesday, March 4, at participating restaurants across the state. From 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. that day, IHOP customers can enjoy a free short stack of IHOP's famous buttermilk pancakes and, in turn, will be asked to make a donation to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) to improve the lives of children at its 170 member hospitals nationwide. One-hundred percent of the funds donated at participating Alabama IHOP locations will be donated to Children's of Alabama. Miracle Balloons, which include IHOP coupons, will be sold for $1 and $5 each, personalized and displayed at participating IHOP restaurants during February, offering guests another way to show their support of CMNH and contribute to the National Pancake Day fundraising effort. Pancake Day is a tradition that dates back several centuries to when the English prepared for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products, hence the name Pancake Tuesday which falls on Shrove Tuesday on the Christian calendar.
