The Tift County, Westover, and Turner County boys punched their tickets to the state semifinals Thursday, each winning convincingly at home.
The Blue Devils knocked off defending state runner-up Hillgrove, 56-47, to move on to the Final Four.
"Those seniors up there, they took us on a great ride. But we're not done yet," says Tift Co. head coach Eric Holland. "We started this thing a long time ago, and we're going to close it out this time."
Star guard Tadric Jackson sat out the first quarter, but made the most of his minutes to lead the Devils in scoring. He threw down a reverse jam with under a minute to play to send the capacity crowd into a frenzy.
"We played hard. We played good defense. We played team defense," Jackson says. "Defense wins championships, so I thank my whole team for playing defense."
Tift travels to Atlanta to play Norcross in the state semis Saturday. They'll tip it up at 4:45 at Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion.
Westover continues to look better each game.
The Patriots shut down a Glenn Hills team that had won its last 20 games to advance, 68-51.
C.J. Davis led the way for the Pats with 18 points. Andre Kennedy and Michael Green added 15 and 12 respectively.
Westover put on a show in front of former NBA player and Detroit Pistons head coach Michael Curry, who sat behind the Spartans bench. Curry is a Glenn Hills alum.
The Patriots head to Carrollton next, where the Columbia Lions await them. That game is at 4:45 Saturday at the University of West Georgia.
The Rebels are also Final Four bound.
Turner County won the rubber match against Portal, 69-61.
The Rebels and Panthers split the season series with each winning at home.
Turner set the quick pace in the ballgame, and used a late first half run to open up a 12-point lead at half.
The Rebels will play Hawkinsville, who upset Seminole County and Randolph-Clay to make it to the Final Four.
That game will tip off at 4:45 Saturday at Savannah State University.
