Restaurant Report Card: Coldbrew's Sports Bar & Grill

FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

CBS46 uncovered a rather unusual problem at a sports bar and grill on this week's Restaurant Report Card.

Coldbrew's Sports Bar and Grill at 880 Holcomb Bridge Rd. scored 40 points and a "U" for unsatisfactory four months ago. The report says an employee touched ready to eat food with their bare hands. Plus, utensils were not sanitized and there was soil buildup inside the ice bin.

"So what happened was we have an oyster bar and we have crushed ice that goes on the tins that the oyster shells are set on. Nobody uses that ice for consumption. That is strictly to go under the oyster shells, our ice bin was fine," Coldbrew's manager Smokie Paris said.

It turns out, Coldbrew's has received two health inspections since their failing score and they were both "A's."

"We have no insects, we have no varmints, we have nothing like that," Paris said.

Our investigation found that the health department failed to post Coldbrew's new scores online, misleading the public and they blamed it on a computer glitch.

"We thought that it was corrected immediately, so this isn't good and it probably hurt our business some," Paris said.

The health department corrected the mistake, but only after CBS46 brought it to their attention.

"We work really hard to keep our restaurant clean and keep our restaurant up to code," Paris said.

There are several good scores around metro Atlanta, Chili's at 874 Buford Rd. in Forsyth County scored a 91.

In Gwinnett County, Stevie B's Pizza Buffet at 1977 Scenic Hwy. in Snellville picked up 93 points.

And in DeKalb County, Little Tokyo at 2929 Turner Hill Rd. inside The Mall at Stonecrest scored a 100.

Last but not least, LottaFrutta at 590 Auburn Ave. received a perfect score of 100 and was the featured restaurant of the week.
