The Birmingham Police Department is calling all chaplains to be a part of their team.

Tuesday night,  the department will hold its last orientation for those who want to be a part of the volunteer chaplaincy corps.

The police department would like to have a total of 75 chaplains to assist with hospital visits, funerals, weddings and more for over 1,100 department employees and their families, as well as those in other city personnel.

"This is a great opportunity to meet people in times of need and whether it's saying an encouraging word or just your presence, if you are in the business of helping people, it'd be a great fit for you," Lt. Sean Edwards with BPD said.

If you'd like to attend tonight's orientation it starts at 5:30 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. It will be held at the Birmingham Police Academy at 401 6th Avenue South.
