After a cold and snowy week, the weather is looking great in Alabama for the Mercedes Marathon. However, some runners may not make it.
The snow has moved on from Alabama but the rest of the Southeast and Northeast are dealing with a serious storm.
Valerie McLean, chairman of the race, says runners have called her about not being able to make it.
She says the runners dealing with the biggest weather issues are from West Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. For many, it's a waiting game to see if they can re-book their flights.
"They're saying, 'Maybe.' Some are saying for sure not. There were so many flights cancelled today that it affected a few people," she said.
McLean says they still expect 13,000 runners to participate in the weekend activities. She also says she will honor the registrations of those who can't make it this year due to the weather. She says she will hold their registrations until next year.
