Restaurant Report Card: Spice

Spice Brick Oven Kitchen in Alpharetta Spice Brick Oven Kitchen in Alpharetta
FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

One Fulton County restaurant definitely spiced things up this week. Spice at 10800 Haynes Bridge Road in Alpharetta failed a surprise inspection with 65 points and a "U" for unsatisfactory.

Health inspectors found raw food stored over ready-to-eat food. Plus, chemicals were stored next to food and food was stored at the wrong temperature.

"We eat here every day. My children eat here every day, my friends and family eat here as well so I'm proud of our kitchen, I'm proud of our staff and I'm proud of our cleanliness," Spice Owner Brian Roberts said.

The owner said that he had a bad day and that they've cleaned up their act. He took CBS Atlanta News into the kitchen to prove it.

"It's safe," Roberts said.

It was one of the cleanest kitchen's we've seen, plus food was stored at the right temperature. Spice scored a perfect 100 and an "A" on a re-inspection Friday.

In Norcross, we have an update for you. Management at the Hong Kong King Buffet at 5905 Jimmy Carter Boulevard corrected their violations on Feb. 6 and received 92 points and an "A" on a re-inspection.

Elsewhere in metro Atlanta, Quiznos at 2595 Sandy Plains Road in Cobb County scored a 100. In Gwinnett County, Panda Express at 900 Duluth Highway picked up 96 points and in DeKalb County, Harbour Bar & Fish House at 129 Church Street scored a 98.

Last but not least, Aria at 490 East Paces Ferry Road in Atlanta received an "A" on their inspection and was the featured restaurant of the week.

A very humid air mass remains parked over Alabama Wednesday night and this will lead to some more patchy fog for the start of the day Thursday. I do think we will see a better coverage of scattered storms.
