Snow and sleet covered parts of North Alabama on Tuesday morning. For the most part, the winter weather kept to areas north of the I-20 corridor. The Highway 28 corridor was one of the worst places for icy travel with Cullman and Hamilton being the hardest hit inside of the Fox6 viewing area.

The areas to the south of the winter weather experienced a cold rain and can expect for conditions to stay damp. More moisture is on the way from the west.

The longer the temperature holds around 32 degrees, there will be more danger for ice to form on bridges and overpasses. Drivers should be very cautious and there will be a danger of slipping and falling for people who need to walk through icy areas. If you need to get out today, try to wait until after 10 a.m. and recheck the conditions.

The Winter Storm Warning will continue to 12 a.m. on Thursday due to a possible second round of winter weather. A low pressure system moving in from the Gulf of Mexico could cause wraparound moisture to move into Northeast Alabama on Wednesday afternoon.
