Coleman Coliseum at the University of Alabama was lit up in pink for a great cause.
The power of pink is a campaign to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer and to support fundraising for the DCH Breast Cancer Fund.
Crimson Tide gymnastics head coach Sarah Patterson has championed this initiative for the last 10 years. Everyone, including the gymnasts, wore pink.
This year was special for freshman gymnast Dominique Pegg. She was introduced alongside her mother Cathy Parker, who is a one-year breast cancer survivor. Parker says she's thrilled to share this experience with her daughter.
"We're so grateful to have people like Sarah Patterson who will put on something like this...breast cancer is all about awareness and that is what she is promoting here...and the more we can get out and promote things like this the more we can save lives," she said.
The Tide gymnastics team also presented a check for more than $100,000 to the DCH Breast Cancer Fund. Over this past decade more than $1.4 million have been raised to help fight breast cancer.
