14 News has learned more about Harold Powers, a Lewisport man who was shot and killed by an off-duty Hancock County Deputy.
Kentucky State Police released more information on Friday. They said Powers showed up at Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Eubank's home with an assault rifle and handgun, and fired at the deputy.
KSP tells 14 News Eubanks was at Power's home last week in response to a domestic related incident.
They say Eubanks escorted Powers to his home and stood by while he picked up some belongings.
KSP is investigating the see if the shooting is related to the domestic standby call.
14 News spoke with Harold Powers' friend, Shawn Colhoun, in Lewisport on Friday. He tells us he wants KSP to investigate Powers' death thoroughly because what happened does not sound like his friend.
Others describe Powers and Eubanks as friends and it isn't like Powers to pull a gun on anyone.
"Harold pulling a weapon on someone is way out of his character," said Colhoun. "I don't believe he did that and for him to pull it on an officer is just ridiculous."
Funeral services for Powers is Sunday at the Gibson and Sons Funeral Home in Hawesville.
Deputy Eubanks is currently on paid leave while the investigation is ongoing.
