ANNISTON, AL (WBRC) -

Thursday, Anniston residents will learn more about a follow-up study about PCBs.

This stems from a 2003 lawsuit against Monsanto Chemicals, which was accused of polluting west Anniston for nearly 50 years.

Thursday at 6 p.m. at the  Anniston Town Hall on Noble Street, researchers from UAB and the CDC will explain more about the study and answer questions.

This study is a follow-up to the Anniston Community Health Study that has already been completed.

Only the 776 Anniston residents who participated in the first study can participate in the follow-up. The first study measured the levels of PCBs in their blood and found a correlation between PCBs and health issues such as blood pressure and diabetes.

This follow-up stud will examine additional health aspects that may be related to the chemical exposure.

Residents who cannot attend the meeting Thursday can call 1-855-822-1778 for more information.
