Emergency need for O negative blood across the region

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Montgomery reports an emergency need for type O negative blood across the region. 

According to LifeSouth, O negative is the universal blood type that can be given to any patient and only about 15 percent of the population is O negative. There is often a shortage of O negative during times of lower donations, like the holidays.

Blood drives are being held in the following locations over the next few days:

Thursday

Jackson Hospital 8a -6p

Dollar Tree Atlanta Hwy 10am – 5p

Donor Center Carmichael Road 9a – 7p

Friday

K-Mart Prattville 10a – 2p

Shoe Station Prattville 3p – 5p

Donor Center Carmichael Road 9a – 5p

Saturday

WalMart Clanton 10a – 4p

WalMart Atlanta Hwy 9a – 3p

Donor Center Carmichael Road 9a – 3p

    Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and special prosecutor Matt Hart filed a motion in court Wednesday to force the girlfriend of Jefferson County District Attorney Charles Todd Henderson to testify in his perjury case now, before the two have the chance to marry and the state can no longer force her to testify against her spouse.
