BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Cullman Police Department is getting ready to go shopping. This year, they're introducing the 'Shop With A Cop' program which lets underprivileged children pair up with officers and buy presents for their families and themselves.

Children and officers travel together in a law enforcement vehicle and head to Wal-Mart. While they shop for their loved ones, they also build a positive relationship with law enforcement.

Children ages 5 to 12 in the Cullman City School System are eligible to participate and are chosen by school officials. The program is completely funded by donations. If you have questions regarding the program or would like to make a donation, please contact Matt Schlosser or Adam Clark at the Cullman Police Department (256)734-1434.

As Hurricane Maria continues to move north across the Caribbean toward the East Coast, an area of low pressure moves out of the western U.S., leaving an area of high pressure in control of the Southeast weather bringing only a few afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms with more hot, muggy temperatures.
