Heads up drivers; traffic alert for Tuesday and Wednesday

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Alabama Department of Transportation is closing lanes of I-85 on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 17th and 18th.

Weather permitting, the closures will be between mile marker 0.6 and 1.0 near downtown for maintenance. This is the inside left lane on I-85 North and South. The lanes will be closed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The New Wind Creek Casino in Wetumpka opens today and heavy traffic is expected in the area. Wetumpka police are advising anyone who does not have to travel 231 through Wetumpka to avoid the area.

Alabama State Troopers are aware of the possibility of increased traffic but routine patrols will go on as usual.

The multi-million dollar casino opens Tuesday but the adjoining hotel won't open until January.
