WFXG to host telethon to benefit Salvation Army

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

WFXG hosted a live telethon at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 to raise funds for the Gerald and Betty Jones Center of Hope Endowment, which provides perpetual funds for The Salvation Army's Center of Hope facility. All donations were matched dollar for dollar up to $50,000, making every $10 donation $20! Donors can still call 706.434.3177 to donate.

The Salvation Army said the telethon raised between $4000 and $5000.

The Center of Hope is located at 1384 Greene St. in downtown Augusta and is home to The Salvation Army's shelters, soup line, drug & alcohol rehabilitation, and job skills training programs.

In the last year, The Center of Hope has provided 35,510 nights of lodging in its shelter and residential treatment program to more than 7,200 beneficiaries. Each program operates solely on donations and 81 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to individuals in the Augusta area in the form of hot meals, safe beds and other human needs.

For more information on supporting The Salvation Army through financial gifts, planned gifts, gifts of stock or sponsorships, please contact John Sebby at: 706.550.2796 or email: john_sebby@uss.salvationarmy.org.
