The City of Montgomery's warning sirens, operated by the Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency, began sounding off unannounced Monday morning.
An investigation into why they activated was conducted and, while specifics were not made available, authorities did confirm the activation was caused by a "malfunction".
There was no severe weather in the area that could have warranted the alarm.
The EMA says it has subsequently tested the system and found no problems. The system appears to be working normally.
