One of the best players in Darton State basketball history is returning to the Good Life City- this time to wear the blue and gold of Albany State.
Michelle Mitchell is transferring to ASU next semester.
The former juco All-American originally signed with Troy out of Darton, but has decided to return to Albany.
Mitchell will join the team for practice in January, but will not play until the 2014 season.
Albany State head coach Robert Skinner says Mitchell will help fill the void that will be left by two starters who graduate this year.
"How could you not be excited?" ASU head coach Robert Skinner says about the addition. "She can play any position on the floor."
She will have two years of eligibility with the Lady Rams.
Mitchell was the fourth leading scorer in the NJCAA her sophomore season, averaging 16.6 points per game.
She led the Lady Cavaliers to the program's first national championship tournament appearance in over a decade.
