The South Carolina Stingrays (17-4-1-2) fell to the Greenville Road Warriors (9-13-1-1) 3-2 on Kid's Day at the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon.
The Road Warriors kicked off the scoring 3:49 into the contest with a tally from forward Brett Perlini beating Stingrays goaltender David LeNeveu (L, 18 saves on 21 shots) off the right post. Less than a minute later, defenseman Ryan Hegarty gave the Road Warriors a two-goal advantage at 4:25.
Forward Parker Stanfield put the Stingrays on the scoreboard at 3:53 of the second period rifling a rebound between the legs of Road Warriors netminder Scott Stajcer (W, 19 saves on 21 shots). Forward Kyle Bodie picked up the lone assist. Road Warriors forward Marc Vallerand made it 3-1 with the eventual game-winning tally at 14:53. With forward Igor Gongalsky in the penalty box for cross-checking, rookie Kyle Bodie buried the fifth shorthanded goal of the season for the Stingrays at 17:57 with help from forward Peter Boyd. Both teams finished the contest 0-for-3 on the power play.
The Stingrays visit the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday, December 20 at 7:05 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center and return to the North Charleston Coliseum the following evening, Saturday, December 21 to host the Gladiators at 7:05 p.m.
