Deputies investigate early-morning deadly shooting


Richland County Sheriff's deputies are looking for clues in a deadly shooting outside a night club early Saturday morning.

Sgt. Curtis Wilson says deputies were called to Club Hot Rodz in the 5400 block of Bluff Road at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says someone drove the victim to Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital, where he died in the emergency room from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Watts identified the man as 32-year-old Charles David Whetstone of Columbia.

Wilson says deputies were questioning witnesses.
