The Montgomery Public School Board approved a plan Tuesday evening to appoint a permanent superintendent. The position is to be posted Wednesday.
Alabama law requires that the position be posted for at least 30 days though interviews are not required.
After reviewing the applications, the MPS Board will be able to vote on a candidate.

Some board members are already throwing their support to interim superintendent Margaret Allen.
When asked if she was interested in the permanent position, Allen said, "I am very interested in supporting the board with its mission and so if it comes to that there is a possibility."
The MPS Board has already called a special meeting for January 14, 2014.
