St. Jude walk helps raise funds for sick kids

(WMC-TV) - Although Thanksgiving is a few days away, Saturday was a day of giving thanks at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The fifth annual St. Jude "Give Thanks Walk" in Collierville is one of 76 walks that took place across the country today to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Organizers did say it was a chilly morning, however there was warm enthusiasm for the hospital's lifesaving mission.

"We are absolutely dependent on individual contributors. So, events like the Give Thanks Walk give us an opportunity to raise much needed funds and awareness for our mission. We're thankful for everyone's support today especially on a cold and windy day in Collierville," said ALSAC representative, Karen White.

Event coordinators said they are on pace for a record year despite the cold and the wind in Collierville this morning.

Tonight at 10 p.m. on Action News 5, we will introduce to a special patient who had a team of supporters walking for her today.
