Metro officer decommissioned after alleged altercation with family members

NOLENSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A 12-year veteran of the Metro Police Department has been decommissioned and is now on administrative assignment.

The son of 41-year-old Officer Dale Becraft says Becraft choked him during an argument Tuesday night, and Becraft's wife says he pushed her down the stairs in their Williamson County home.

Becraft's wife also says he took the family's cellphones when she tried to call 911.

Becraft reported to the Nolensville Police Department later Tuesday night.

He was booked into the county jail and is facing charges of aggravated assault, domestic assault and prevention of a 911 call. Bond has been set at $8,000.

Police say the department is now investigating Becraft's alleged actions.
