The following comments were generated from an editorial by FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou Kirchen, which first aired on Tuesday, Nov. 5:
I have a Medicare Advantage Plan. When I received my information for 2014, I found that my maximum out of pocket expenses will increase from $3400 to $6700 per year. Also, dental cleanings and dental x-rays will no longer be provided unless I pay an additional premium.
My husband's LLC is being fined (or taxed) $180,000 extra for the year because they provide health insurance for their employees. They have about 500 employees and provide their own health coverage plan for employees and partners.
My BlueCross policy for myself and my wife will increase from $642 to $1202 a month.

When I retired I contacted my BlueCross provider who had been providing me insurance through my employer and for the past two years I have been very pleased with my plan. But I did receive a letter on Sept. 30 from them and it says, "based on new requirements of the Affordable Care Act, the plan you are currently enrolled in must end after December 31, 2013. Your current plan does not meet all of the new Affordable Care Act benefit requirements."
