Tuscaloosa police charge man with 17 burglaries, 1 robbery

The Tuscaloosa Police Department says they have arrested a man in connection with a string a burglaries in Tuscaloosa.

A press release issued on Friday morning says a patrol officer was in the area of 15th Street and Greensboro Avenue around 2:52 a.m. on Thursday morning when he heard an audible alarm go off before falling silent a few seconds later. The officer noticed the Wayside Restaurant was completely dark, so he went to investigate.

The officer says he saw someone run from the corner of the business as he pulled into the parking lot. Tuscaloosa PD saturated the area and found the suspect near 15th Street and Queen City Avenue.

At the scene, the power meter had been pulled off the building and the phone lines had been cut.

After questioning by investigators, the suspect was charged with 17 burglaries that had plagued the Tuscaloosa area since late August of this year. The list of burglaries reads as follows:

One robbery charge has been issued for the suspect at the Soap N Suds on 10th Avenue. It took place on October 15.

37-year-old Michael Quincy Jones was charged with 17 counts of 3rd degree burglary and one count of 1st degree robbery. He was place in the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $315,000 bond.
