U.S. Army representatives have asked a local high school football player to play in the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Reps came to Homewood High School Thursday to invite standout player Jordan Sims to play in the bowl in San Antonio, Tex.
Sims is one of 90 high school football players selected as an Army All-American. The young athletes are chosen because they display mental and physical toughness. These are the same qualities the Army looks for in its soldiers.
"This is very great honor, I'm very excited about the game and very prestigious honor so I'm very blessed to have this opportunity," Sims said.
Sims joins the ranks of talented All-American alumni, which includes Andrew Luck, Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.
