Woman kicks out police car window during arrest

A woman faces numerous charges after police stopped her for speeding Wednesday.

Athens Police arrested Victoria Simpson of Florence. The charges against her include resisting arrest, attempting to elude police, and assault.

Police said she was traveling more than 90 miles per hour when they were finally able to stop her on Highway 72 near Grace Avenue. Officers said Simpson fought them as they took her into custody.

When an officer tried to secure the seatbelt around her, police said Simpson spit on him and then bit him on the forearm. Police said she also kicked out the window in the back of the patrol car, causing $1,300 in damage.

Simpson was taken to the Limestone County Jail and held on $16,500 bond.
