Teen murder suspects denied youthful offender status

MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Morgan County judge denied a request by three suspected killers.

Wednesday afternoon, Judge Glenn Thompson denied youthful offender status for three teenage murder suspects. All three are charged with the murder of Glenn Blackwood.

The three suspects, Jameson Staten, Steve O'Neal King and Lorin Wilson, spend much of the afternoon in a closed courtroom.

King is currently free on bond while Staten and Wilson remain in jail. All three are facing felony murder charges for shooting Blackwood to death last year.

Court documents show the teens were 17 at the time of last year's murder. Court records show they knocked on the door and Blackwood's roommate answered. Authorities say when Blackwood came to the door, he was shot several times and the teens took off.

Wednesday's ruling means all three suspects will face murder charges as adults. So far, no trial date has been set.
