Talladega currently holds the NASCAR record for lead changes (88), leaders (29), fastest average race speed (188.354 mph) and fastest qualifying speed (212.809 mph). Talladega Superspeedway is considered the "Wild Card" of all the races that make up the Chase for the Sprint Cup because of the track's unpredictability. That unpredictability has led to many shake-ups in the point standings since the Chase was started in 2004. This year's race at Talladega is the sixth race in the Chase.
