Native of Greenville Isabella Wesley, Homecoming Queen UA



Senior accounting major Isabella Wesley was crowned the 2013 University of Alabama Homecoming Queen during halftime of Saturday's football game against Georgia State by Governor Robert Bentley and 2012 Homecoming Queen Lissa Handley Tyson. A total of 10,100 students voted on Tuesday for the five-member court that recognizes leadership and contributions to the Capstone.
Joining Wesley on the homecoming court was Natalie Goodwin, mathematics and accounting major, Jordan Patterson an accounting major and Crimson Tide softball player, Katrina Sharpe, a marketing major and Tiffany Underwood, an accounting major.
Eddie Conyers served as this year's Grand Marshall. Conyers began working with The University of Alabama in 1960 when Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant hired him to serve as a football official during practices. He also served four years in the U.S.  Navy, earned his master's degree in higher education from Alabama and served as the Assistant to theDean for the College of Continuing Studies at UA.
Also honored at halftime were the winners of the annual Homecoming parade competition and Spirit Cup and Spirit Bowl recipients. Placing first in the large division for the parade competition was Alpha Chi Omega, followed by Phi Mu in second place and Delta Zeta in third. In the small division, the Nursing Ambassadors were selected first, Theta Tau was second and Alpha Delta Chi took third place.
Phi Mu was presented the 2013 Spirit Cup, which is awarded to an organization with more than 100 members that has exhibited the most pride and spirit during the week of Homecoming. The Spirit Bowl, which symbolizes the same characteristics, is presented to an organization with less than 100 members. This year's winner was Theta Tau.
