Tuscaloosa police nab suspect minutes after bank robbery

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Tuscaloosa police arrested a suspected bank robber minutes after the robbery took place.

Police say the Cadence Bank on Greensboro Avenue was robbed around 11:30 a.m. Friday. Cashiers told police a man walked into the bank, demanded money and appeared to have a handgun point at them under his shirt.

The bank teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and he fled on foot.

Tuscaloosa police officers spotted the suspect running west on 12th Street. They took him into custody without incident in the McDonalds parking lot.

Rafiel Deshuan Chaver, 31, was charged with one count of first degree robbery with a $60,000 bond. He was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
