(RNN) - Strip away the millions of dollars, the fame, the trainers, the publicists, the stylists and other hangers-on, and your favorite celebrity is just like the rest of us everyday Americans with budgets, un-used gym memberships and Sunday sales circulars for fashion consultants.
And that's just how New York artist Danny Evans imagines them.
Evans created a series of celebrity "portraits" showcasing your favorite entertainers as less than perfect – with middle-age spreads, thinning hair, drab wardrobes and unfortunate perms.
In short, what many would look like with an 8-to-5 job, three screaming kids who need food on the table and no time for a manicure or a fad diet of the week.
Evans told ArtFido.com the project began in 2006 as "a reaction to the insanely over-retouched photos of celebrities that are everywhere."
Beyonce and Jay Z, Lady Gaga, Tom Cruise and Madonna are just a few of the celebrities he's stretched, styled and aged.
So far, Evans says he's received positive feedback from the celebs he's targeted.
