Alabama's victory against Texas A&M is paying off big for fans in Tuscaloosa today.
The company that provides batter for Waffle House, C.H. Guenter & Son, is based in Texas, and the company that provides the Waffle House's coffee, Royal Cup, is based in Birmingham.
The two companies made a bet on the Alabama-Texas A&M game, saying the loser has to pick up the tab for customers' waffles and coffee in the winning football team's town.
So all day Thursday, if you come to the Waffle House near UA's campus wearing Alabama gear or crimson and white colors, you can get free waffles and coffee.
The event is going on from 7 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 until 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at the Waffle House at 1307 University Blvd. on the strip.
"It's fairly new and it's a big deal. It helps us tie in more with the University of Alabama…We're hoping for a big crowd. We want Texas to pay," Waffle House district manager Greg Truett said.
Crews are already preparing for a big crowd and planning to cook up to 2,000 waffles during those 24 hours.
