The Montgomery Biscuits are announcing the renewal of their partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays as the Double-A affiliate of the Rays through the 2018 season. In addition to the renewal, the Biscuits announced Rays at Riverwalk, an exhibition game to be held at Riverwalk Stadium on Saturday, March 29, 2014 between the Biscuits and Rays.
"We are so pleased to continue our partnership with the Rays," said Biscuits owner Sherrie Myers. "We have been extremely fortunate to be able to work alongside the Rays for the past ten years. The Rays are one of the top organizations in baseball which makes it truly special to continue as their Double-A affiliate for four more years."
The Biscuits have served as the Rays Double-A affiliate since 2004. In ten years of Biscuits baseball, there have been 46 players to wear Butter and Blue before moving on to Major League careers, including David Price, Evan Longoria and Matt Moore.
"We're proud to continue our decade-long relationship with the Biscuits," said Rays President Matt Silverman. "We're grateful for the positive experiences they have created for our young players and the manner in which they have represented our organization. It's exciting for us to bring Rays baseball directly to Biscuits fans."
The exhibition game between the Biscuits and Rays will take place on Saturday, March 29 at Riverwalk Stadium. Rays at Riverwalk will be the first time that a Major League team has come to Alabama since the Birmingham Barons played the White Socks in 2007.
Wednesday, officials in Montgomery held a news conference to say fans should start buying their tickets now to see the Big Leaguers play next March. Those who buy a full or half season ticket package can lock in their Rays' seats now. If you want until next March to buy individual tickets, they're cost you $28.
