Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn says he is proud of the way the Tigers performed on the field on Saturday night as they defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs and snapped a 10-game losing streak against SEC opponents.
"First of all I'd like to say how proud I am of our team. We talked before the game that it could come down to the end. A lot of these games for Mississippi State have come down to the end," said Malzahn at the opening of the press conference.
The coach says his team rose to the occasion, despite some missteps.
"Our offense sputtered at times in the second half, but they went 88 yards, I think it was 1:56 on the clock, found a way to get into the endzone," said Malzahn. "Very proud of our defense. Had some big stops there in the second half. Overall, it's a great win.
Malzahn then took time to praise the Auburn fans at the game.
"The crowd was awesome. The crowd helped us win that game, especially in the fourth quarter. It was fun to be a part of it," said Malzahn.
Next week, Auburn has another big SEC challenge with LSU in Baton Rouge. Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m.
