TROY, AL (WSFA) -

The Troy Police Department is asking for the public's help finding 31-year-old Marco Deon Swanson after he and several patrol officers were involved in a police chase Thursday.

Police Chief Jimmy Ennis says officers tried to stop Swanson's orange Ford Mustang on Orion Street around 12:30 p.m, but the vehicle refused to stop, instead turning on to US 231 North and excelerating.

Officers chased the vehicle on US 231 North until it pulled onto Childs Road and the driver stopped the vehicle. Swanson then fled the vehicle and ran into the woods.

Troy Police Department officers with the assistance of the Alabama State Troopers set up a perimeter along US 231 in the attempt to catch the man but after an hour authorities called off the search.

Swanson was wanted on four outstanding Allis warrants with the Troy Police Department. He now is wanted for several new charges in connection with the pursuit.

If you have any information in reference to Swanson's location, please contact the Troy Police Department at 334-566-0500 or the Secret Witness hotline at 566-5555.

As Hurricane Maria continues to move north across the Caribbean toward the East Coast, an area of low pressure moves out of the western U.S., leaving an area of high pressure in control of the Southeast weather bringing only a few afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms with more hot, muggy temperatures.
