JEH JEH LIVE - United Way kicks off its annual campaign today. This year's theme is education. Principal Salome Thomas-EL has made a remarkable impact at his elementary school in Wilmington, Delaware. He joins us along with several local youth and Fred McCallum, President of AT&T, who is the 2013 Campaign Chairman.
TONYA LEWIS LEE - Tonya Lewis Lee (Spike Lee's wife) and Nikki Silver, award-winning producers and founders of ToniK Productions, produced the film "The Watsons Go To Birmingham." The film will premiere on September 20, 2013 on Hallmark Channel as a Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere. The film is based on Christopher Paul Curtis' 1996 Newbery Honor and Coretta Scott King Honor Award winning book, and was adapted for screen by Lewis Lee. Both Lewis Lee and Silver are executive producers. Directed by Kenny Leon, "The Watsons Go To Birmingham" stars Anika Noni Rose, David Alan Grier, Wood Harris and Skai Jackson. The film follows an all American family on their road trip from Flint, Michigan to Birmingham, Alabama in 1963 and their historic summer experiences give them a newfound courage to stand up for what is right, and helps them grow stronger as a family in the process. There is a special screening (invite only) of the film tonight as part of the 50 Years Forward celebration. The film will be screened at the Alabama Theatre for over 400 people. RACHAEL RAY - The season premiere of the Rachael Ray Show is on Monday and Rachael joined us live from her studio in New York with the scoop on her upcoming season! It kicks off with a surprise 45th birthday party for Rachael and special guest host Arsenio Hall. NBA IN SCHOOLS - The NBA and BBVA Compass visit Jackson Olin High School students today to provide financial education and underscore the importance of receiving a high school diploma. This visit is part of the NBA and BBVA Compass' Team Works in Schools program, which is now in its third year. NBA legends Otis Birdsong, a four-time NBA All-Star, Felipe Lopez, an NBA Cares Ambassador, NBA Hall of Famer Bob Lanier and BBVA Compass executives will interact with students throughout the day.
