Two brothers taken into custody after a police chase near the University of Alabama campus

Two Jeffrson County brothers are facing several charges after fleeing from University of Alabama Police early this morning.  Officers observed suspicious behavior in the suspects car.  As officers approached the car, the driver  fled.

The driver struck several  patrol cars and almost hit a pedestrian as he drove in and out of the Publix parking lot off University Blvd .  Speeds never exceeded 35 miles per hour.

One brother ran off into bushes, throwing objects at officers as the pursuit was taking place.  Officers stopped the driver as he hit the last officer's patrol car.  Drugs were found inside of the suspect's car.  Both brothers 24 and 25 years old were taken into custody.  They are not students with the University.

One of the brothers had outanding felony warrants from Jefferson County.  Both suspects were tranported to DCH Hospital with minor injuries. Tuscaloosa Police Department assisted in the chase and had to use pepper spray during the arrest.

Desmond Lamar Waller and Tony D. Beckwood, both of Hueytown, were taken into custody on several charges.
