A memorial sculpture to the "Four Little Girls" will leave Berkley, Cali. Wednesday to head home to Birmingham.

The bronze and steel memorial was created by sculptor and Birmingham native Elizabeth MacQueen and will be placed at the edge of Kelly Ingram Park. The memorial will be unveiled Saturday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.

It features Denise McNair, Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley and Carole Robertson on a bench, surrounded by doves. They four girls were killed when the 16th Street Baptist Church was bombed Sept. 15, 1963.

Four Spirits, Inc., the group behind the project, will hold a fundraiser for the project Thursday, Sept. 5. The event will  be held at Wiggins Childs Quinn and Pantazis at the Kress Building on 19th Street North from 5 to 6:30 p.m. They say they are close to raising their goal of $250,000.
