ADOC: Inmate recaptured in swampy area near facility

LOXLEY, AL (WSFA) -

The Alabama Department of Correction has canceled an inmate escape notice after recapturing the man Tuesday afternoon.

Inmate Tommy Goleman, escaped from the Loxley Community Based Facility and was determined missing around 5:55a.m. during an institutional count.

Goleman had last been seen at 3:30a.m. on his assigned bed. 

All appropriate law enforcement agencies were notified and a search for Goleman was started. Authorities confirm he was tracked and recaptured by ADOC K9 units from Fountain Correctional Facility.

Authorities say Goleman was found in a swampy area near Cabinet Shop Road and County Road 64 approximately 2 miles from the facility. After recapture, he was returned to Holman Correctional Facility.

Goleman was sentenced out of Mobile County on April 23, 2013, to a three year term for theft of property. Goleman's sentence was set to expire in January 2016.
