A suspect wanted on several charges including attempted murder out of Selma is under arrested after being captured in Chicago.

The suspect, Darryl DeWayne Johnson, was extradited back to Alabama over the weekend.

Members of the Selma Police Department's Vice/Narcotics Unit were in contact with the Chicago Police Department after Johnson was arrested on August 23. The suspect was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal's Service.

Johnson was wanted on three felony warrants connected to a March 20, 2013 shooting case that happened in the 2300 block of Hardie Avenue. The warrants include attempted murder, shooting into an unoccupied vehicle and shooting into an occupied dwelling. Police say in total, more than 60 shots were fired in the incident.

Johnson appeared in a Chicago courtroom on August 23 and waived extradition. The next day, detectives from the Selma Police Department traveled to Chicago to transport him back to Dallas County.

Once back in Selma, Johnson was interviewed, processed and booked before being transported to the Dallas County Jail. He's being held on a bond of $2.7 million.
