SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A preliminary hearing for youth evangelist Matt Pitt has been set for Sept. 24, according to court documents.

The hearing will be held at 8:30 a.m. in Judge Reeves courtroom in Shelby County.

Pitt is being held on no bond in the Shelby County jail after violating his probation from a 2012 conviction of attempting to impersonate a peace officer. In 2012, he was sentenced to two years of probation and as part of his sentence was required to obey all laws.

Last week, Jefferson County deputies charged Pitt with impersonating a peace officer in connection to a June 15 incident, the same charge that got him in trouble the year before. Pitt's probation for his 2012 conviction was then revoked, and both Shelby County and Jefferson County sheriff's offices had warrants out for his arrest.

Pitt was taken into custody on Tuesday night near the Vulcan Park area in Birmingham after authorities were tipped off to his location.

Pitt is being held in the Shelby County jail on no bond. He has been ordered by Judge Reeves to undergo a drug test, which is a standard procedure.

Pitt started The Basement in the basement of his home in 2004 and it grew into one of the largest youth ministries in the country.
