BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The office of Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange was evacuated on Wednesday morning after a suspicious substance was found on an envelope.

According to the Montgomery Department of Public Safety, the substance is described as a white powder. An initial investigation by the U.S. Postal Service showed the substance is not harmful.

Six people came in contact with the substance at the AG's office, according to the Montgomery Fire Department. A Hazmat team is on the scene and they do not yet know what the substance is. The six people exposed to it are still inside the building.

Decontamination is being set up by a civilian support team and Montgomery Fire Rescue.
